In a hilarious twist of events, Nobel laureate Sir Naipaul was assassinated by a FBI agent, in a footnote. [Smoking Gun]
The aforementioned footnote was written by a FBI agent, Lorenzo Benedict, as part of documents presented to a Chicago court as part of a criminal case against two men who plotted attacks on employees of the Danish newspaper that published controversial cartoons. Naipaul’s name was brought up in a reference to his wife, Nadira Naipaul, a Pakistani journalist and sister of a Pakistani army chief who was assassinated by terrorists in 2008. Also worth noting, is that the deadly footnote, elevates Naipaul from “Sir” to “Lord”.
