Our desi media sometimes goes overboard in their coverage of celebrities. Case in point, this mind boggling update on Bollywood supremo, Amitabh Bachchan’s health [Times] [via Filmiholic]

In an attempt of keeping the readers abreast about Amitabh Bachchan’s health we bring to you the latest updates right from the hospital. The latest is that the doctors have allowed Big B to start consuming fluids from Monday night.
Our inside sources say that Bachchan has not passed stool as yet and that’s why he is being kept under observation in the hospital. However, once the doctors are completely sure that the medications are working well, they will grant discharge permission.
If all works well, Bachchan should be back home by today evening or Thursday morning. We wish the star a speedy recovery and hope that after this episode, Big B goes easy with his hectic work habits.
So there you have it. The Times has “inside sources” that tell them Big B as not pooped. While I have no doubt that bodily functions are vital for Big B’s health, media coverage of his bodily functions, is surely way too much information? Would it be wrong to classify this news update as, pardon the pun (and language), shitty journalism?
