New Murcielago, Fl owner.
Proud to know someone in India is drivin it as well. Accidents are just that, they always happen. A merc. driven by Rajesh Khanna or or Maruti by anyone else, or a lambo by a rich person, what does it matter? If one has the resources, why do we judge them? Its easy to say not, but, we would all do the same.

Racoon: Yes. we see these cars in Boston, NY and Philly all the time. But we dont see them totalled, particularly in single car accidents with their axles neatly sheared off. Such horrific single car accidents are usually not the work of an expert, hence inspite of your "Nurburging" (sic) anecdote, the term n00b still stands.

Again, as I told Karthik, he has every right to drive the car on the roads of Mumbai, I can't help but feel sorry for the poor car.

So when I lived in Mumbai a couple of years back, i used to see this car every sunday night, vrooming away on marine drive. And i did hear from friends who followed his lamborghini news that he was a regular at the driving trainings they have...they call it Nurburging or something like that.

Am not sure if his driving on Indian roads qualified him as a n00b or not, but he sure was trained to drive it. And I've seen people driving them in cities in the US all the time..Boston, NY, Philly. Its stupid to drive it on Indian roads, sure, but what else do you do with a car you've bought? Keep waxing it in the garage?

In fact one of the posters in the forum that I have linked to, talks about his efforts to get the government open up an unused airfield in Juhu for testing/driving such cars. Apparently the government said that they are not interested.

This reminds me of this group of people in SoFla who had cops escorting them and opened up the Interstate... (check Apr 26th)

Something like that I understand.

Karthik: Bro, this is something I am very passionate about.

Besides, who thinks its a good idea to own/drive a car like this in India? I can understand someone trying to collect cars, but to take it out on the public streets is just not the right thing to do in my opinion.

We can own/use anything we want, as long as we are considerate, not just towards the people around us, but towards the object in question. So, whoever it is, let them buy the cars, but use it in moderation, commiserate with the circumstances and the surroundings

Honestly though, I think most people who own such cars recognize the value (more so in India than here) and the special feelings that you get when you drive one of them (heck, my Super Black Altima 2.5 SL gives me that feeling). In fact one of the posters in the forum that I have linked to, talks about his efforts to get the government open up an unused airfield in Juhu for testing/driving such cars. Apparently the government said that they are not interested.

Thats not a n00b’s car!! 4545 was Anil Ambani’s lamborghini that he only drove on Sundays for the last many years. Wonder if Anil Ambani himself was driving it???!!!

Forgive me, but if you are Anil Ambani, you are only a rich guy, that does not make you a good driver.

Ok Santosh. The crashed car was reportedly a LP-640, which is the Murciélago. The car that you linked to is obviously a Gallardo. While it's not really the apples and oranges example, it is certainly an Beverly Hills and Belmont example.

Racoon: Oh, this was the Ambanis? There was talk that this was an actor who was involved.

In any case, technically, anyone without formal track training or without any experience driving these cars on a open high speed capable highway will be considered a n00b.

You need open roads to drive these cars at the maximum speeds that they are designed for. Anyone who drives on city roads at high speeds will either be termed a n00b (cos experienced drivers will typically go slow on city roads) or a hoon

So, if I totalled a LP-640, I'd be a n00b, while a similar crash in Lewis Hamilton's hands would be classified as hoonage.

Racoon,
Seems like you may be onto something there.

What does an yellow exterior with matching yellow leather seats say for Ambani's taste?
