Is she really a “Bond Girl”?

Rediff has this story of Zaraa Adams, an actress of desi origin, who is visiting Mumbai, who is also supposed to be a Bond Girl. [Rediff] (tip Runa via email)

Hot or not, is she really a Bond Girl?

We didn’t have to post the image but we can, so we will. Besides when was the last time we @ Über Desi passed up the chance to post pictures of uber hot desi ladies, but I digress.

This set off some alarm bells, because, we know exactly who the Bond Girls are - Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton. [Full cast of latest Bond movie] Back in March there was a blurb on Ultrabrown (tip Anantha) about a Zahra Adams auditioning for the part but we’ve been unable to find any follow-ups that indicate she actually got the part. Which leads us to one of two conclusions:
a. She got a part (probably a minor one) in the movie. But then if she did this did not even register a blip on the desi media radar and we all know, considering how hungry and obsessed our media is with the Bond girls, this is highly unlikely. Besides, we’re unable to locate her name anywhere on the movie cast on IMDB or similar websites.
b. This is some sort of a publicity stunt. Which leads us to this:

She also met up with producer Sanjay Gupta and expressed an interest in organising a charity show in Mumbai.

Sanjay Gupta (the producer, not the doctor from CNN) is well known for pulling ridiculous publicity stunts in collaboration with some of the desi media - the most recent being an expensive introductory scene for Anupam Kher’s son in “Woodstock Villa” and having someone in the Hindustan Times write a promo for it masquerading as a news item. And why are we blogging this story? Just as a PSA to not trust everything that our desi online media outlets put up on the web.

If anyone else has come across credible sources that confirm Zaraa/Zahra Adams was indeed selected as a Bond girl, send it to us and we will update this post.
