All Naan n curry places in SF suck big time, they just stink up the neighborhood, this place is just cheap food with extreme masalafied food. Everything looks and tastes similar with the same masala, may be with minor color variations. At least, it is not a pseudo like dosa.

This is a true criticism - the masala is pretty much generic except for the karela. The quality of the original N n C in the Tenderloin ( since moved)was significantly better but hey - where else can a family eat plenty of reasonably ok desi food for under $20 in SF?

    QGM,
Appreciate your feedback. We all face the same problem when it comes to Indian food in the US - cheap, crappy and extreme masalafied (I like that term) food made by mom-n-pop restaurants that don’t know if they’re trying to stay authentic or attract the “phirangs” (I use this term because a restaurant owner once shared it with me). Result: Nataraja idol, bright red walls, cheap paintings, restrooms that don’t work, horrible service, and we’ve not even started with the food.
The main reason for launching this section is to share our experiences about the good restaurants, bad restaurants with certain decent items and the bad restaurants we can completely avoid, without getting too cute with the reviews.
If you have come across any that you feel our readers would be interested in, please feel to share it with us using the Review Form. I’m sure Uber Desi’ readers in your area of the country will be grateful.

Does it have to be a review of a desi place? Well, I cook exceptionally well made desi food, so to eat desi food outside is always a punishment for me. When I eat out, it is anything but desi. The rare occasions that I eat desi food is when friends or friend’s parents need to get their desi food fix and I have to give in.

Preferably. But feel free to pass along something if you feel it’s a place our readers would be interested.
