Nepal got its first openly gay politician after Sunil Babu Pant was selected to represent a small communist party in the new constituent assembly .(link)
Pant is head of the Blue Diamond Society, the only gay rights group in Nepal
India has the first openly gay member of a royal family anywhere - Manvendra Singh Gohil
I do not believe India as yet has an openly gay politician though I remember reading about a transgendered person who stood for elections in Madhya Pradesh. I think that desi society is finally opening up about alternate lifestyles though we have miles to go. For example:I have yet to hear of a single Indian actor coming out. In theater and art circles however there have been a few openly gay folks. Bombay and Calcutta (okay, okay Mumbai and Kolkatta ) have had gay pride parades in recent times
Do you think gay rights has moved forward in South Asia ? Is the pace of change fast enough?

That is against Indian culture. I suggest India invade Nepal to nueter …. er… neutralize this threat.
