(You can file this one under ‘misleading advertising’.In my defence, it worked and you are reading this ! The stories *are* about sex but peripherally.)

Story # 1:

The desi obsession with producing sons is well-known.This recent article about a study of expectant mothers in the UK found that :

As well as consuming more calories, women who had sons were more likely to have eaten a higher quantity and wider range of nutrients, including potassium, calcium and vitamins C, E and B12. There was also a strong correlation between women eating breakfast cereals and producing sons.

So it is about sex - the sex of the unborn child that is. In a spirit of altruism, I present a multi-million rupee idea to market a breakfast cereal called “Son-rise” ( get it?) -full of cereal and banana slices - guaranteed to give the happy mom-to -be sufficient quantities of the nutrients mentioned above and producing the much-desired son and heir.

Dear Readers, next to having sons we desis like nothing more than making money so please hurry this idea to market. I will be satisfied with a small royalty per box of cereal sold.

Story # 2:

This one is not so much about sex as its by product . From the bizarro files:

A laboratory technician who allegedly tried to make a quick buck by stealing samples from the Indian sperm bank where he worked has been arrested after a doctor tipped off police. (link)

Mind you, not just a couple of vials of the good stuff : 101 of them

The employee allegedly stole the sperm from a sperm bank in the western city of Aurangabad, and tried to sell 101 vials of it to a doctor in Mumbai for about $625, Aurangabad police chief Krishna Lal Bishnoi said.

Alas, all for nothing. Because, if you did not know it , sperm does not last long unless stored properly in a liquid nitrogen container. Thats 101 men who wasted 15 minutes of their lives in a cold, sterile bathroom somewhere in central Maharashtra presumably “egged” on by old copies of Debonair.
