Desi kills wife, stabs daughter

34-year old Balbir Singh has been arrested and charged with murder in the Sunday night stabbing death of his wife, New York city police said. Singh killed his wife Sunday night in their apartment in Queens in an attack that also left his 7-year-old daughter hospitalized with a stab wound in the arm. (link)

The 34-year-old man had been fighting with his 29-year-old wife when he knifed her twice in the stomach at 9:15 p.m. inside the apartment on 64th Street in Jackson Heights.

The little girl, who may have tried to intervene, was stabbed in the arm, police sources said.

The couple had a son who was sleeping during the attack and not harmed. Singh is suspected to have been drinking before the attack. The reason that the couple were fighting is not known at this time. They had been married for nine years and had emigrated from India.
