Those Nigerians men

TAGS: None

After scamming noobs on the internet asking for their bank account information, the Nigerian ‘businessmen’ got smarter. Soon they were creating fake websites and phishing information from unsuspecting customers, asking E-Bay sellers to part with their goods and now they are after Tata Nanos.

Jalopnik, one of the regular feeds I have subscribed to received an email from Belema West, apparently the President of and organization named GrassRoots Peace Ambassadors Forum, who wanted to buy 300 Nanos for his senior ‘civil servants’ to be used in the NigerDelta area in Nigeria.

If phishers are upbeat about the Nano, it should be a hit, right?

Some of us Nigerians (You must have guessed I am one right?) are bad, but not all.

    Hi Kayode,
Thanks for commenting on our blog.
I think I speak for all of us bloggers here when I say that we truly do know that all Nigerians are not bad. Its the same for us desis too - some of us are bad, some of us are good - in the end all humans have the same vices and virtues regardless of where we come from.

    Hi Karthik

It is indeed a shame that we have this terrible image. I do agree that some Nigerians have become such a terrible nuisance on the web. I get a minimum of five such emails a week.

However I am writing this response for a reason - Some of us Nigerians (You must have guessed I am one right?) are bad, but not all. The guys that get scammed are usually greedy people. Honest forthwith businessmen will soon see that the 'deal' being offered isn't 'clean'.

Have you ever been to Nigeria? Its a nice place and the people are really nice. We just seem to be functioning under some kind of curse - One i which the wrong people ALWAYS get in to power and greed is magnified above reason and equity.

Dont know when, but things WILL change. Only hope it wont be too violent!

    “US dollars 10,000? upfront

    I got standards, man!
  • Runa,
That was funny. I'm still ROFL. But seriously, "US dollars 10,000" upfront? I've gotten offers where my fees were less than "US dollars One thousand only" :-)

    Dear mr. Karthik,
I can get you the same nanos free due to the fact that my late grandfather the Grand Panjandrum of new kapurthala died and left me stock in Tatas on condition that they be given by me to a motor racing blogger whose name begins with "k".By amazing coincidence I discovered theis blog. However ,in order to send them to you I will need stock transfer fees of $ 10,000 upfront. You send me the money, i send you the stock, you get the nanos, sell them to belema- we all is very very happy.
