The online media outlets, blogs and every news source is buzzing with Nano, the $2500 peoples car. The news is mostly praise peppered with a little worry about the trouble the mass sales could bring.
We over at UD love the Nano, for the following reasons
-The price. When most cars in developing countries cost almost $5000, Tata set the price and came up with the best product it could for the money.
- The looks. Granted, this is no Matiz (which won the cutest car for 2-3 years back in the day), the Nano does not look ugly, unlike most cheap cars.
- Fuel efficiency - At 52 MPG, the performance is close to two wheelers. Very efficient and very thoughtful.
- Emissions - Right now, it meets the standards and I am sure that as the markets expand, the emissions will be under better check.
- Safety - The same analogy as emissions.
While catching up on the news, I read an article that compared the Nano to the Ford Model T and I see the product the same way. This could be the revolution the industry has been waiting for. Soon you should see other major manufacturers vying for a piece of the pie. Good for the companies and great for the consumer.
Now if I were in India, I would place an order for one, just so I could blog about it.

some people have already tried to topple the three-wheeler juggernaut:

I’ve actually ridden in the prototype, and been to the first factory, so I can tell you that the ride is far from Camry-style blandness, but it’s strangely exhilarating to be riding in something so cheap that could prove to be so incredibly important.
the nano is definitely cheaper and doesn’t utilize carbon-fiber for the sub frame, but i could envision a similar driving experience.
How is the Nano different from the Smart Car, besides the obvious price difference?
The prototype nano?
The smart car is more powerful if I am right, the Smart 4 2 is a two seater car (and the cheapest), besides all of that, their safety standards are much higher than the Indian standards. Well that and the engine is mounted in the front on a smart.

After scamming noobs on the internet asking for their bank account information, the Nigerian ‘businessmen’ got smarter. Soon they were creating fake websites and phishing information from unsuspecting customers, asking E-Bay sellers to part with their goods and now they are after Tata Nanos. [...]
