The Cliché Cinematic Coiffure

Looks like you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

There used to be that running around the trees bit. And then the proverbial chiffon in rain. There was even a ‘Ma,aaaaaa’! But then that evolved. A bit. There was the love interest, the archetypical villain and the pitiful sister. But then, that too evolved. Sort of. But what transcended time, much like those scriptwriters at Yash Raj, and no, that’s not a good thing, are our heroines’ hairstyles!! Really, as unimaginative as it can get!

It is almost as if the side-swept hair has been claimed and patented by our Bollywood women for all time to come, much like Karan Johar has laid claim over all of New York! Dearth of stylists in Bollywood is a fact already established, how else can you explain that same thoughtless hairstyle, lack of taste otherwise in accessories and much ignored styling, time after time? They don’t get it that just jazzy clothes do not completeth a look, much like one great song doesn’t a hit movie make!

Ok, HiHeeCon, let’s break out the photoshop and start cuttin’ and a pastin’.
Kareena could pull off an Ellen Barkin bob , cut only not the color.
Lara is perfection as is, can’t touch that.
Soha could work the Netrebko a la Loren look.
Sonam = Salma in a 40s inspired side sweep.

But what Bollywood Bombshell is going to cut her locks? That look is too ingrained.
And how many iron their hair straight? I’d really love to see a Bollywood starlet with huge, curly locks.
