Vijay Mallya was on hand at the Motorsport Business Forum in Monaco. Although speakers covered topics ranging from engine freeze, politics, the USGP and being environmentally conscious as a sport, the most important was the talk by the new owner, Dr. Vijay Mallya.

Mallya detailed his plans for the Force India F1 team, peppering his talk with some interesting statistics, he predicted a boom for F1 in India.

Force India F1 team boss Vijay Mallya spoke passionately about why he has acquired the Spyker F1 team and how he believes India will be a boom market for F1 in the years ahead. This included some amazing statistics with India boasting annual growth of 9% per annum, 114,000 dollar millionaires and a middle class of probably 400m people by 2010. There are 500m people under 25 and their aspirations are higher than those of previous generations. Mallya says that he hopes that F1 can emotionally connect with this group in the future.

And today Ralf Schumacher took to the track for the first time in the Force India F1 car. Before he got in, he suggested that he was merely helping Vijay Mallya out, delivering on a promise he had made to the new team owner a while back. On track he finished the day dead last. The problem was attributed to a lot of red flags and hydraulic problems in his car.

Tomorrow is the final day of the test and hopefully the team can turn things around.
