Narain ends his role with Williams F1

Looks like you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Narain Karthikeyan who has been testing for Williams F1 for the past two seasons has ended his relationship according to his manager.

He blamed the traction control ban, as a result of which regular drivers will take up more time in the cockpit. There was also the possibility that Narain might have staked his claim on the second race seat, vacated by Alex Wurz at the end of last season, but the team decided to give Kaz Nakajima the seat instead.

His manager was quoted as saying

We have decided not to extend the partnership even if they are ready to renew the contract, All the prime drivers will be looking to do more testing on the off season, so the test drivers will hardly get a chance next year

Narain also commented about his possibility with Vijay Mallya’s Force India F1 saying that he was not in the run for a seat.

I am not in the fray and I am not even expecting a final minute call from Mallya for the Jerez test. I would have got the call a month ago if they really wanted me.

Narain did mention that his manager is in talks with “a few big teams”.

While this might not make too much sense, I stand by my post in saying that Narain has secured a role with another team.
