V Dub back on track in India

VW back on trackThe VW Golf GTI and the “old” VW Beetle.

Will India see this on it’s roads?.

Indian’s were looking forward to the peoples car a few years ago. But like with any corporation that enters India, VW had to work around the red tape and that landed them in a lot of trouble.

And after sorting out the mess, they are back in the game.

An agreement for the Punjab plant is expected to be signed soon, said chief minister Amarinder Singh.

Back in 2006, Dance With Shadows reported that VW planned on launching the Polo in India competing with Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors.

It looks like that distant dream is now a reality. More competition means better choices and better prices for the Indian consumer. At least VW is not making a mistake like Ford is.

There are some Parsi folks in Mumbai who probably still own those old-school beetles.

And I still completely disagree with your Ford-coupe-idea-bad-for-India contention :P

Well, perhaps not completely - but it’ll (the Ford’ll) sell well.
