Update: As predicted on this post yesterday, Haley got the boot while Sanjaya continues his run on American Idol 6. He has not even made the bottom 3 in the past 2-3 weeks.

Update: Per DialIdol results at 11:20pm, Sanjaya is #4 tied with Chris, which means there is a likelihood of him being voted off. Also, as I predicted (and feared) earlier today, Lakisha and Jordan could be in the bottom 3 with Haley. It would be an absolute travesty if either one was voted off but then when you have brainless efforts like VoteAgainstTheWorst.com (not to be confused with VoteForTheWorst.com), they are counterproductive because they split up the votes the good contestants are supposed to receive.

Update: Sanjaya, absolutely pimped out goatee and all, sang “Besame Mucho” ……… in Spanish!!! Not familiar with the song but he did a great job. He was probably top 3 good today. This is the Sanjaya judges saw when they picked him for American Idol. I’ve always maintained that he is not as bad a singer as the media makes him out to be. When he actually relaxes, he delivers a quality performance. Based on tonight’s performance Phil Stacey or Haley should be on the chopping block.

Also featuring on BlogTalkRadio, an online talk radio show hosted by Dr. Blogstein, was yours truly. We had a lively discussion on air about tonight’s American Idol, Sanjaya, Bollywood and more. I’ll blog about it in detail later.

Update: It has been brought to our notice that there is now a concerted web campaign against Sanjaya, namely VoteAgainstTheWorst.com.

For instance, the website says people in Alaska, Colorado, California and Delaware (total population, 42.3 million) should vote for Melinda Doolittle, while voters in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Maryland and New Mexico should vote for LaKisha Jones (42.7 million).

To me this campaign seems counterproductive and may end up in one of the favorites getting voted off. For instance, if a large section of people in Florida decided they did not want to vote for Lakisha and voted for Melinda instead, Lakisha loses the votes California could have gotten, because …. anyone anyone Bueller ………. California voted for Melinda thanks to VoteAgainstTheWorst.com. As a result if one of the favorites ends up on the chopping block, they have VoteAgainstTheWorst.com to blame.

Originial Post: Jay Leno seems to be running out of material as he broaches the now defunct Indian call center vote rigging theory (tip Anantha via Uber Stories). Jay Leno was probably joking but his viewers are not as witnessed on the poll on that page where over 70% of respondents agree that India is rigging the vote. At this stage, American Idol purists and Sanjaya haters seem to be paranoid and sparring with shadows as evident from their flimsy conspiracy theories.

As for the show itself, this week on American Idol, Sanjaya and the 7 dwarfs will be performing to the theme of “Latin Night“. The possiblities are endless - Sanjaya shaking his bon bon, Sanjaya paying tribute to William Hung … er… Ricky Martin with “She Bangs”, Sanjaya doing a Shakira or a J’Lo or even, Rico Suave.

If Sanjaya makes it through this week audiences may be in trouble because legendary Bee-Gees singer Barry Gibb is coming to ‘American Idol’ and we all know Malakar has dibs on “Stayin’ Alive.”
