Alex Wurz - Karthikeyan’s inspiration

Looks like you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Unless the news involves Narain Karthikeyan, I can’t seem to get myself to post here. I guess it is the fact that no other blogger covers him as much, combined with the fact that Narain is currently India’s only hope at the pinnacle. Either way, we have more Narain news for you.

In a recent interview with Reuters, Narain spoke about his inspiration, the A1GP and the fact that he is hoping for a race seat.

Citing the example of Alex Wurz who lost his seat at the end of 2000 who finally managed to return to racing with WilliamsF1, Narain said

You need to see your options and wait for your turn. That’s how Formula One is at the moment, It’s a small market, but a crowded place.

He reassured everyone that he main focus was still F1 and WilliamsF1 and the A1GP was a way of keeping his racing skills sharp.

My main priority is Formula One, with Williams. I thought I’ll do A1 just to keep my racing juices flowing. I’m going to be competing in the next three races as well

Having scored the first points for India, Narain has done pretty well in A1. Last week was a disaster in Durban, South Africa. After qualifying at the end of the pack, the team rebuilt the car ground up, only to discover that the engine mounts were fractured after the sprint race. They switched to the spare car and after a broken drive shaft, Narain still managed to score two points. Looks like the racing gods are smiling once again.
