King of France
“Hello, you’ve reached Dell Tech Support. This is the King of France……..”

Thanks to a novel, Balthazar Napoleon de Bourbon, was suddenly thrust into the spotlight.

But in his book Le Rajah de Bourbon, Prince Michael of Greece says the owner of the house, Balthazar Napoleon de Bourbon, is a long lost descendant of the Bourbon dynasty. In fact , Balthazar may have more claim to the French Crown than any Greek or French Bourbon descendants.

Not that with a name like Balthazar Napoleon de Bourbon, the thought would never cross your mind. They say once you visit India, you never really go back. Balthazar’s ancestors took that to heart and stayed behind, allegedly.

It all started when Henry the Fourth’s nephew visited Emperor Akbar’s court in 1560. And since then, his descendants have settled down here.

Unlike, most Indians migrating abroad (not excluding the author of this post), Balthazar refuses to go to France even with the possiblity that he could make King of France one day.

“I’m very much an Indian. I was born In India and bred here. Whatever I’ve achieved, I’ve achieved it in India,” says Balthazar Napoleon De Bourbon.

And to that, we will toast …………. a glass of Bourbon.

Lucky for him he’s lacking that distinct Bourbon nose!
