Check out this desi kid who recites the capitals of most US States. Ok not all, he slips up once, on Kentucky, and gets some help from the guy holding the camera, presumably his father. Slightly amusing, when his father repeats a state, Alabama, and the kid innocently, and slightly miffed, corrects him. FYI, the conversation between the kid and his (presumed) father is in Tamil, if you could not tell from the accent. (tip Sai via email)

Desis are stereotyped not only in the West (think Temple of Doom and Apu in Simpsons) but in Chinese movies also. Granted this seems to be an older Chinese movie but the guy playing the “fakir” appears to be a Chinese dude with blackface, moustache and the customary turban. In the end those wily Chinese (dressed in blackface themselves) trick the fake desi. Nevertheless, some entertaining kung fu and really crappy acting here.

Bollywood star, Dharmendra, gets even by scoring one for Team Desi by beating fake Bruce Lee to a pulp. More dishum dishum and crappy acting.

While we are it, here’s a list of top 10 Jackie Chan stunts, one of the most popular videos on YouTube. Is it sad that I’ve watched every single one of those movies?

Speaking of the desi love for Democrats, here’s a desi from Atlanta, GA, on Oprah’s show describing why she likes Barack Obama (tip Karthik via email). She even sings a catchy jingle “O….B….AMA, O….B….AMA”. Like Oprah says, she needs to work on the rhymes and lyrics, entertaining nonetheless. It’s catchy this “O….B….AMA, O….B….AMA”.
