Relatively speaking (in Internet years), South Asian actors are no newcomers to 24, the thriller drama on Fox. Not too long ago, current Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Kalpen Modi, got to fulfill his lifelong passion of holding people hostage and blowing up things, playing the role of a teenage terrorist on 24.
For long it was rumored, that his hirsuteness, Anil Kapoor, the game show host in the multi-Academy award winning movie, Slumdog Millionaire, would be working on the new season of 24. Well turns out those reports are true. So what role does Mr. India play? A Bollywood star who prances around trees with the damsels while single handedly beating up the bad guys? Anil Kapoor plays (minor spoilers ahead) a middle eastern leader, President Omar Hassan, who is in the US on a peace mission. From his IMDB profile, it appears that Kapoor may not be bumped off by terrorists or assassins anytime soon in the show, either that or Anil Kapoor pulls an Obi-wan Kenobi and appears as an apparition to guide Jack Bauer.
