Lots of issues at the consulate, period of visa is often cut short from the usual 3 years, extension/transfer of visas in US is a big problem, and many more headaches. Friends of mine had extensions done recently. The process took 8-9 months or even more and they were issued visas for only 5-6 more months. There are people who are not able to drive for long periods because licenses are issued only upto I-94 date and the extensions take a long time to come and often with RFE/Denial etc. Appeals take long time too. Life on H1 really sucks and this is another reason people dont want to come. Rather be in India or other countries with easier and quicker visa processes. There are people who get stuck in India while their car and personal belongings remain in US and have to be sold or given away through some friend's help (At a huge loss).
