The mysterious petty theft that President Barack Obama’s new computer chief committed at age 21 was shoplifting four dress shirts worth $134 from J.C. Penney.
What prompted the CIOman to commit this heinous crime is not known at this stage and is anyone’s guess. Impressing a girl or a dumb bet made with a friend seems as good a guess as any. Apparently the sequence of events that unfolded was right out out of a B grade Bollywood movie.
Vivek Kundra was observed by a security guard putting the men’s shirts into a shopping bag and leaving the store without paying. Sgt. Tom Stanton wrote that Kundra was arrested after a brief foot chase and the property was recovered.
Fortunately for Vivek, the mall cop did not give him the “Mera Baap Chor Hai” treatment.
Kundra ended up paying in fines an amount little below the sticker price of the 4 shirts he flicked. What kind of $33.50 shirts was Kundra trying to pinch anyway?
