In his profile on an Indian matchmaking website, Nitesh Adusumilli wrote that he lives with passion and fervor, optimistic about both his future in love and career as a database administrator.
“I am a balance of calm waters with a bit of spontaneity,” the Ballwin resident wrote. “I don’t know about smiles, but I can guarantee I always have a smirk on my face.”
He was searching for a marriage “where we can both learn from each other and grow with each passing day.”
Those dreams were shattered early Saturday morning when the car Adusumilli was driving was broadsided, killing his fiancée and three others. State troopers said the car that hit them was driven by an off-duty police officer going the wrong way. The officer was speeding and possibly drunk, investigators said.
Anita was Nitesh’s fiancee and the other two girls, her roommates. All 3 girls were students of Eastern Illinois University on spring break, visting Anita’s fiance.
Adusumilli’s fiancée, Anita Lakshmi, 23, was dead at the scene along with Anusha Anumolu, 23, and Prya Muppvarapu, 22 — Lakshmi’s roommates — and Satya Chinta, 25, who was Lakshmi’s cousin. He lived near Chicago.
The three female victims were all working toward master’s degrees in information technology at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. They were meeting Adusumilli on spring break.
The officer is also listed in critical condition.
Truly a tragedy, all these promising lives and careers cut short by a drunk driver.
