Keeping it real, desi ishtyle

Search for a potential mate by face – desi ishtyle

TAGS: None

Bharatmatrimony unviels a facial search feature with it’s own unique desi twists (and prejudices). [linky] (via Patrix’s twitter)

Men can search for women who resemble their favorite female Bollywood stars and further filter by, you guessed it, language, religion and caste.

Women may do the same, but in the true fashion of our patriarchal society, the males get a break in the looks department. It’s not all movie stars with A.R.Rahman and Abhinav Bhindra thrown in for relief in the looks department. It’s not that these two guys look like trolls or anything, but they ain’t no movie stars, lookswise.

Is this disparity in search criteria because some women have more realistic expectations, or is it because all men are delusional?

If any of our single readers have test driven this feature or plan to, we are interested in hearing your, ahem, experiences. Were you able to find a Aishwarya Rai or Abhishek Bachchan look-alike for your potential mate? Or did you start with Aishwarya Rai and end up with Nirupa Roy?

  • Totally embarrassed now

    What did I miss? :-)

  • Uh-oh indeed - backspace. My fault, entirely :-$ (didn't know there was a 'middle', though.)

    And yes (@superficiality).

    Totally embarrassed now :P

@Runa: It does, much as it’s hard for me to imagine superficial can be any other level (that’s why it’s called superficial?). But the occasional superficial civility might just make an überdifference to the readership. Something like “nice to be important but important to be nice”

Uh oh - I see that a clarification is called for.I meant this whole face -like-Aishwarya Rai thing takes superficiality to a whole new level .Was not intending to get in the middle of Santosh and you :-)

  • Don't look now, but someone just spoke. Nice of you to humor me, guys - thanks! :) No, people are sensible enough not to expect an acknowledgment on every single comment, but a hello once in a while doesn't hurt, does it? Especially if it's going to mean less WTFs from readers.

Just a thought. Other than that, bloggers are free not to care to respond, and readers are free not to care to comment. Yikes, I see myself turn into a rohit. Let me not take more space :O Thanks again, you two.

Am I allowed to comment on this post :-)?

My initial impression: This takes superficiality to a whole new level. But what do I know?

  • Kishore Anand Bhanushali. Now that's a name I've not heard in ages.

You guys seem too übercool to courtesy-respond to anyone.

More like too überlazy to respond. Please don't let that stop you from commenting. Comments are what keep us going :-)

  • Looked for Dev Anand, found Kishore Anand Bhanushali instead. Fair enough, I don't have any unrealistic expectations. Besides, a star is a star, woriginal, old or otherwise.

PS: Why do I bother to comment here again? You guys seem too übercool to courtesy-respond to anyone. Or do only the über-elite à la roe-hit make the cut? :-|
