That didn’t take long. Someone had to take a dig at Jindal’s Indian origin sooner or later.
MSNBC talking head Chris Matthews, also known for his pro-Obama bias perhaps went overboard defending Obama against Jindal’s criticism.
Says Matthews:
They had to outsource the response tonight, the Republican party.
Then he quickly realizes the implication of what he’s trying to say and tries to make a halfhearted attempt at qualifying it.
They had to outsource it to someone who had nothing to do with Congress because the Republicans in Congress had nothing to do with the programs he was talking about tonight or the record he referred to.
Matthews conveniently forgot that Jindal was a Congressman before he successfully ran for Governor and is one of the fast rising leaders among the GOP ranks. How is it outsourcing when he’s a Republican and one of their leaders to boot?
We’re no Jindal fans here and even wrote about Bobby’s disastorous televised appearance but clearly this is way over the line. Would Matthews have made that outsourced remark if Charlie Crist, another Governor and rising star in the GOP ranks, had led the GOP response instead of Bobby Jindal?
What do you think? Was the “outsourced” remark a dig at Jindal’s Indian origins? Was Matthews over the line when he made that remark or are we making a big deal out of nothing?
