Full disclosure: I am an M.Night Fan – despite the train wreck that was “The Lady in the Water”. I actually liked “The Happening” and am looking forward “Airbender”. The casting of this film was mired in controversy with allegations of “whitewashing” though the original animated series has of course, Asian-ish characters. ( see this discussion) . I don’t like the unnecessary hatin’ that M.Night gets – I don’t like it at all. Other directors make clunkers and don’t get dismissed as “one -hit wonders”. (Even the mighty Spielberg made the fogotten “1941″!). So lets stop with all the negativity and give Night mad props for pulling of a second casting coup – the first being Jesse McCartney as Evil Prince Zuko – with bagging Dev Patel who is hot right now fresh of “Slumdog Millionaire” success.
