The incident ocurred at the St.Thomas Knanaya Syrian Christian Church. Reshma James, 24, died after being shot by her estranged husband, Joseph “Sanish” Pallipurath, 27. The police are on the look out for the husband who is alleged to have driven from California to New Jersey.

A witness told NorthJersey.com that Pallipurath came into to the church saying, “I came to take my wife.”

Most of the church members are first and second generation Indian American immigrants.

Update: From California to New Jersey to Georgia, Joseph M. Pallipurath, the man who has been accused of shooting his wife in cold blood at a church, was finally arrested east of Atlanta, Georgia. [TOI]

Tragically,  one of the two victims who was injured Dennis John Mallosseril, died. John, who maintained the church’s Web site, had tried to intervene and break up the church rampage.
