desi - a good point about the players being of south Asian origin in North American teams, not necessarily a bad thing. As long as the teams are competitive enough for an Olympic duel. Also, maybe inclusion into Olympics will make the game popular in Europe and the Americas, something that cricket enthusiasts will welcome, and we will have a whole lot of teams to cheer for and throw water bottles at. :)

Sidhu,
imight be good for the game if being made an olympic sport
. For me, that is debatable coz there are only a handful of countries-mostly asian where the game is popular enough and I dont know if the other majority of the countries might give a thumbs-up.Even if they do, I am pretty sure that say a USA team or Canada team will have Desi+Pak+Srilankan players in it. Thus, the game will be played and watched by the same people and I dont know how it will help the game.I could be wrong.

Second, I am afraid that in a already cricket crazy nation where other sports do not even get the basic encouragement(we still talk about the T20 world cup but all the hoopla around the Olympic medals are done and over) Cricket might overshadow all the other sports. Olympics is the only event where we give some importance to the other sports and if Cricket is one of them I dont know if we would care for others.
