The creators of on-screen rendition of Chetan Bhagat’s “One night @ the call center” - a movie named “Hello” - were slapped with a censor cut, one that’s for the ages. In the words of the Gul Panag, the female lead actor: [DNA]

Gul says, “The scene has me and Sharman making out. Like any educated woman I ask Sharman whether he is carrying a condom before we get into the act. Though the lovemaking scene will be retained, the ‘condom’ dialogue has been chopped off. While we have ads running all over television urging people to use condoms, I fail to understand why the dialogue was deleted. The decision speaks of the Censor Board’s double standards. I am planning to write a letter in protest,” says Gul.

The sad part is I can see some discussion of this sort happening with the Indian censor board:
Chee chee. The dialog is too risque with bad words like condom. It’ll corrupt the children and make them think using condoms is ok. So we’ll get rid of that. But the sax scene will sell at the box office, so we’ll let them keep it.”

(Per wiki) Former Bollywood star, Sharmila Tagore, is the current chairman of the CBFC. The emphasis on the word “chairman” is mine and is symbolic of how out-of-touch this bureaucratic organization really is.
