This is a sub-plot to the Jaipur blasts that makes me somewhat uncomfortable. Being that Bangladeshi terror outfit HuJI is the prime suspect, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, went into CYA mode and revealed a conversation between her office and the Central Government’s Union Home Ministry in June 2007. The gist of the conversation: Raje asked Center what to do about illegal Bangladeshi immigrants and the Center suggested rounding them up and putting them in transit camps.
Official communication between elected officials in India sounds like a conversation between Ann Coulter and Rush Limbaugh, basically suggesting the incarceration of hundreds of thousands of an ethnic minority group, for the actions of a few. Mind you, neither party was against the idea of rounding up hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis, they were simply arguing over who was supposed to pay for this. Can we please pull up the historical case studies of similar internment camps and discuss why they shouldn’t even be discussing something of this magnitude in the first place? [Yahoo News]
