We have a nominee for our annual “Do as I say, not as I do ” award. Kumar Barve was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being arrested in Gaithersburg,Maryland last month. Barve, a desi , is the Majority leader in Maryland’s state legislature. What makes this deliciously ironic is that he was one of the sponsors of a 2001 bill that changed the state’s legal blood-alcohol level for drivers from 0.10 to 0.08.
Do you think :
a) To be a good politician , you have to be a hypocrite?
b) To be a good desi, you have to be a hypocrite
c) Both (a) and (b)
d) None of the above

c) Anyone who tries to establish a moral high ground is at some level being a hypocrite.
Btw, regarding the desi “uncle” stance on drugs, it is rather hypocritical that they will speak out rabidly against drugs like the mary jane and turn around and drink Johnny Walker whiskey like a fish.
