Tata received support for their bid from the worker unions of Jaguar and Land Rover. Initially the were worried that if successful, their jobs might disappear to India, but after being comforted and promised by Ravi Kanth, the Managing Director of Tata, the workers decided to support Tata. They also cited Tata’s track record with other British acquisitions and because they felt that a manufacturer would be a better fit for the company as compared to other bidders.
