Harish Patel to play Mr. Miyagi like role

A comical version of Mr. Miyagi, that is.

The upcoming cross-Atlantic venture, Run Fat Boy Run, directed by David Schwimmer (of Friends fame) and starring Simon Pegg (of Shaun of the Dead fame), also features veteran Bollywood comedian/supporting actor, Harish Patel, in a sidekick role.

Simon Pegg plays a deadbeat who dumps his pregnant fiancée at the altar. Five years later when he realizes the folly of his ways, he tries to win her back by competing in the London Nike marathon against his ex-girlfriend’s now-boyfriend. Harish Patel, plays the role of Mr. Ghoshdashtidar, Pegg’s friend/mentor/motivator, who helps him prepare for the marathon, which is kind of ironic given Harish Patel is not exactly in great shape himself. Previews of the movie looked promising - the movie itself looks like a cross between Dodgeball and Knocked Up - if you’re into that kind of comedy. Movie is expected to release in early 2008.
