‘Outsourced’ pilot for NBC

Looks like you are new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Modeled after the movie, ‘Outsourced’ will be a romantic comedy set in India, complete with a cow in the office (see the trailer).

The story centers on a customer service manager in Seattle whose department is outsourced to India, and he goes there to train his replacement. The project explores the clash of the Western and Indian cultures, and chronicles the manager’s romance with a local woman

Here is the trailer for the movie, and the line that stood out…

“Just a word of advice, I remember feeling like you do, I was resisting India, but once I gave in, I did much better”.

There are more videos on the ‘Outsourced’ movie website.

ugh. really beginning to hate these “white dude comes to to help indians while helping himself to self awareness and indian women” movies.

see now this seems a bit more realistic. i’m certain if an american born desi kid went to india, he’d behave the same way.

Eve if it was me, and I was forced to go to a place that I had no interest in, I would behave the same way. ;). It might be a bit much, but my parents who visited me for a couple of months miss the clean roads and calm traffic here.

As long as we are not stereotyped, I do not have a problem. I think we are shown in good light in the movie and if the show is anything like the movie, it should be cool .

There is also the fact that I have a few friends who are married to “White” men and it is totally cool AFAI Go. They treat them way better than the desi men I have seen them with. So if they are happy, I do not see a problem.

    Hi Shlok,

I have seen American born desi kids behave ‘that way’ but I have also seen desh born kids behave ‘that way’ too.

Much of it is based on exposure and expectation, na? My dad did a awesome job with both. My sibs and I we love India seen through daddy’s eyes (not as exotic destination abroad — though there is nothing wrong with that too –as long as people are out and trying — it is all cool).

On a side-note I have 4 cousins married to white, American guys and my bros-in-law digest India better than my cosmo,too-cool Bombayite cousins and American born desi kid I know.

My bros-in-law have won the hearts of all the ‘elders’ of our clan: they drink tea in saucers, try all the food once, don’t complain about Indian toilets, take a bath in 1 cold bucket of water, and smile and joke all the while experiencing India.

They backpacked all over India and stayed in 10$ places that my cousins wouldn’t even consider as viable rest stops for 10 minutes.

I have met quite a few adventurous white guys who have taken real back-road trips in my 30-some years in America all the while the original desh cousins plan their safe vistas in Europe and US.
