Formula 1 and Spyker are not the only ones to follow this weekend.

A lot is going on this week/ weekend motor sports and as usual Desi’s find themselves in the mix.
First off Spyker have announced that they have sold the team in principle to Vijay Mallya and Michiel Moi. After an initial bid of 55 Million Euros, the bid was raised to 61 Million Euros. The deal will be finalized on 29th September after a vote by the shareholders of Spyker Cars.
Narain Karthikeyan is back in the news. In an interview, he said that he was in talks with a few teams including Spyker. There was speculation that Narain might replace under performing Alexander Wurz over at Williams F1. But somehow I feel that negotiations have broken down between Williams F1 and Narain.
Why? Because Narain has not tested much for Williams this year. In fact in the last test of the season at Jerez, Williams were represented by Nakajima on day one and by their regular Nico Rosberg on day two and three. I cannot remember the last time Narain was involved in a test session.
This news comes right after Alexander Wurz, one of the drivers for Williams F1 commented that he would not talk about his future role at Williams F1. He did say that they had something that they wanted to try out, but the time was not right to comment about it.
Add this to the fall out from the spy-saga. Although the rumor mill is working over time, Alonso’s decision could prove vital to many drivers including Narain.
Personally, I think Narain is being smart here in talking with Spyker. Mallya obviously wants him on board to get more sponsorship and Narain needs a drive.
This weekend marks the start of the A1GP season. Team India and Narain set a new circuit record earlier this month at Silverstone and after a performance like that, there is a lot to look forward to this weekend at Zandvoort in the Netherlands.
Watch out for Karun Chandok at Valencia
Coming off a strong win a couple of weeks ago, Karun will be back in the hunt for another win this weekend at Valencia, Spain. Keep checking his official website, because he updates it pretty often and he has a column that he writes.
