As the battlelines are being drawn for the US Presidential Elections of 2008, we @ UberDesi will attempt to keep our readers updated with the significant happenings, soundbytes and, most importantly, desi-related issues and news associated with this event.
Who wants to be Amrikan President?
Actually we have a head-start with the Desi-crats post, the follow-up on the Desi-crats post and Karthik’s post on quotes made by Tom Tancredo and Barack Obama.
Presenting a list of the major candidates in the field (and some who are not), as it stands today. In the upcoming weeks and months UberDesi will attempt to provide individual breakdowns of the frontrunners and dark horses in our very own unique ishtyle.
The front running Democrats (mostly in that order):
1. Hillary Clinton (D)
2. Barack Obama (D)
3. John Edwards (D)
Democrats want him to run but he won’t in 2008: Al Gore (D)
The front running Republicans (mostly in that order):
1. Rudy Giuliani (R)
2. Mitt Romney (R)
3. John McCain (R)
Republicans want him to run and he probably will: Fred Thompson (R)
Internet legend but real life no-name: Ron Paul (R)
Nightmare Candidate: Tom Tancredo (R) and/or Cthulhu (FM) (2008)
UberDesi supports: Sanjaya Malakar (UD)
Best website to get information on candidates, their issues and their voting records: Issues2000.org.
Legend:
D - Democrat
R - Republican
I - Independent
UD - UberDesi
FM - Fictional Monster
Question for our readers: If the elections were held today, who would you support? (Sanjaya and Cthulhu are not valid options)
