For debatable reasons the US Visa policy has had a lot of changes. With recent rumors about H1-B visas being misused, more stringent is the only way this scale will tip.
Finances, degree certificates and proving that you will return to your mother/father land are acceptable requests, but in return we expect a little bit of compassion from the system.
Jagjit Singh the Cabbie from Seattle, who was murdered.
Working 12 hours a day, Jagjit Singh, married for only Seven months, was trying to save up enough money to bring his wife to America was lured to his death.
Investigators have revealed that a self-professed gang member with gambling debts shot Jagjit and then set his car on fire.
What is even more appalling is that his wifes US visa has been denied. She was hoping to attend his funeral service on August 4th.
Jagjit’s fellow cabbies raised about $10,000 to fly his wife over, which did not help.
Is it too much to ask for rules to be overlooked for a case like this?
May Jagjit Singh rest in peace.

That’s pretty crappy of the State Department/USCIS to do that. Thoughts and prayers to the family of Jagjit Singh.
