Cricket

Good food = Great cricket.

Good length? A ball at a good length is always fun for the batsman. But the English cricket team has come up with more innovative things to place on the field.

Although it is called the gentleman’s game, Cricket is anything but. From the days of the beamer to the current day, there have been ways of intimidating opponents. Over the course of the past 20 something years, I have come across quiet a few of them, but what is happening over at England, is very creative, funny and makes for great writing.

To set the stage, a few days ago, Zaheer Khan found himself in the news for wildly gesturing at the slip fielders. No one figured why until now.

When the tailender angrily gestured towards Pietersen in the gully, the assumption was that he was responding to some over-the-top sledging.

But it emerged that jelly beans, of all things, had been placed on the pitch in front of him.

Now that is funny. In which International game have you ever seen someone pull something off like that?

Ubertip to the Indian team: Chicken Vindaloo, those guys love it.

If Zaheer was in the US and he slipped on those jelly beans and fell, he could’ve sued the English Cricket Board, England team, everyone else under the sun and retired from cricket. The next time they placed jelly beans on the field, the English players would be required to post a notice in at least two different languages warning players of their presence.
