Mumbai Mamus, Marathi Maanus and Orkut: part Deux

From Santosh On 4 June 2007 View Comments

Lets start with Orkut: Orkut allegedly has certain communities that speak up against the Thackeray clan and contain “derogatory” language against Shivaji.

Marathi Maanus: The Shiv Sena and its minions consider Orkut to be “the devil” because certain users on Orkut have formed groups that target criticism at Thackeray and Shiv Sena. Reminds me of an exchange between Adam Sandler and Kathy Bates in the movie “The Waterboy“.

Young Bobby Boucher: Mama, When Did Ben Franklin Invent Electricity?
Mama Boucher: That’s Nonsense, I Invented Electricity. Ben Franklin Is The Devil!

Mumbai Mamus: a.k.a The “protectors” of Mumbai, the cops. As explained previously, they are more interested in protecting the innocent Mumbaikars from online comments than from more real life dangers. Case in point:

Shiv Sainiks on Sunday vandalised a cyber-cafe in Kalyan, protesting against certain hate-communities on the website orkut.com which allegedly contained derogatory material about Shivaji and the Thackeray family.

No arrests have been made so far, police sources said, though a complaint of rioting and unlawful assembly has been lodged against some forty Shiv Sena workers.

Let me make a confession: While I can speak enough Marathi to get around Mumbai or most parts of Maharashtra, I’m unable to read comments in Marathi, typed in English. Will someone please decode these comments for me (1,2)?
