Sanjaya was eliminated in tonight’s show of American Idol bringing to an end the phenomenon that swept America. Details coming soon!

All good things have to come to an end in life. The best (or worst, depending on your point of view) thing to happen to American Idol came to an end amidst a sea of tears. In what turned out to be an emotional week for Sanjaya, when Sanjaya needed America’s help, America deserted Sanjaya. He ended up in the bottom 3 in votes and was eliminated.

As the cup of overjoy overflowth for Sanjaya haters, we have to keep track of the fact that this was just a 17 year old kid in a dumb reality show. He contested bravely and won over the viewers’ hearts. He may not be the best singer out there but he was the bravest and most entertaining. Now American Idol will revert back to its sanctimonious self where they convince each other its a singing competition. As for UberDesi, we may post a follow up or two in the coming weeks, but it will be about Sanjaya and not about American Idol.

I thought he was extremely poised and a good sport considering the excessively harsh criticism he often received from the judges. I think that as time goes on, he will probably develop into a wonderful singer. He has a lot of potential and seems to be a genuinely nice kid. Best of luck to our papaya!

I for one am glad that this is over and thankful that I did not have to watch a single episode.

    Thanks Santosh.

    Semi,
You are right. I think he has great poise, smarts and street savviness which will stand him in good stead whatever career he decides to pursue.

    Bess,
Glad you liked it. I’ll try to get more updates on “da man” when I can.

    Karthik,
You’re welcome dawg. I’m glad this is over and I dont have to waste my TiVo space on American Idol anymore. Thank you America.
