In the season opener GP2 race in Bahrain, Karun Chandok racing for the Italian team Durango qualified 16th with a time of 1:41:810, .937 seconds behind Luca Filippi of the Super Nova International team.

In the first race, he managed to gain 5 positions finishing 9th behind fellow team mate Borja Garcia who qualified 8th. The second race is scheduled to happen before the Bahrain F1 race on Sunday.

Meanwhile at the other end of the world in Shangai, Narain Karthikeyan racing for Team India in the A1GP managed to qualify 5th, Team India’s best qualifying position ever.

Commenting on his performance, Narain said

I’m pleased, it’s the best ever qualifying result for India, but we still need to get the best out of the tyres and the car during qualifying. I think we have a much better race car than qualifying car

You can watch the second race of the GP2 series before the F1 race Sunday Morning at 5:30 EST on Speed TV. The A1GP is also on Speed TV on Wednesday April 18th at 2 P.M. EST.
