Shocking findings at UberDesi HQ: Sanjaya not top search result for UberDesi

TAGS: None

If you missed it, Uber blogger and Desipundit contributor, Gaurav of Gauravnomics fame, selected UberDesi as his “Desi Blog of the Day” yesterday. Thanks Gaurav.

One of his observations stood out to me in particular.

My tip to Uber Desi: Think of what next after Sanjaya Malakar.

So this got me thinking. Over a few beers and pizza at our weekly (sort of) Uber Desi meeting, I discussed this with Karthik and he pointed me to StatTraq which is what we use to monitor the statistics of hits our humble blog receives, including search by keywords. That is when I had this shocking revelation: Sanjaya is not our #1 traffic puller for this week, month or even year.

His sister Shyamali is. Here’s a snapshot of the top 10 results. As you can see “Sanjaya Malekar” is #11. The rest of the top 10 is a bunch of degenerates (and I use this term lovingly because I count myself among them) searching for Shyamali Malakar and her Hooter uniform pics.

Sanjaya is #11

The image below gives a list of the top 20 keywords that UberDesi received for the year 2007, which is when we installed StatTraq. As you can tell from the image, UberDesi should be thinking: “What about life after Shyamali ………….. and the degenerates who search for her pics.”

  • It's the same with me. About one third of my pageviews everyday are for the Shyamali Malakar tag archive.

People are of course searching for Sanjaya Malakar, but since blogs with higher pageranks are writing about him, they aren't coming to our blogs.

Oh...that is sad..desi folks are behind Sanjaya's sister now;-) She is already engaged to 'phirangi aukat' :-(

Looks like since Sanjaya is already so popular people have stopped searching!
