Narain Karthikeyan seems to be having a good time this year. In the opening round of the F1 season in Albers Park, Nico Rosberg of the Williams team finished with two points using a car that Narain spent a lot of time testing. In the same race last year, Nico did not finish and the then WilliamsF1 driver Mark Webber had a transmission failure.
Narain has currently headed down to Mexico to take part in his third A1GP for team India and he is keen on getting on the podium this time around.
“I’m looking forward to getting in the car again and forgetting our problems in South Africa. Having arrived in Mexico on Tuesday, I have a few days to acclimatise myself before getting on track. Set-up will be very important here, the circuit is extremely bumpy and the combination of corners and a long straight will require the car to be carefully balanced.
“This will be my third A1GP event, and I’m starting to really understand the characteristics of the car. With no testing opportunities, all our learning has been confined to race weekends, and we should now be able to capitalise on this in Mexico. This circuit will give us more scope to push the car to its limits and I’m expecting to secure a top three finish for India.â€
I did watch the sprint and the feature race in South Africa and I was surprised that India managed to score points and I have a feeling that a podium might not be out of the question. But we still have to wait for the practice runs and see how the times match up before I put down money on Team India.
Either way here is wishing them good luck and you can read the entire story over at Team India’s A1GP website.
