Update: Sanjaya made it through to the top 11 as predicted. However, he recieved the bottom 3 in votes as not predicted.
This is starting to sound like a broken record: Sanjaya does ok, nothing to write home about but as usual the judges blast his performance and from the voting predictions it looks like he will live to fight another day.
Judging from tonight’s show it looked like the judges went out of their way to bash him. At this stage it looks like the American Idol folks are beginning to panic at the realization that he could very well crash the party by making the top 10. He has a decent voice, and that would be abundantly obvious to the folks who actually watch the show. Instead bloggers and other media people watch the 30 second YouTube clippings where Randy says “No dawg” in 30 different ways or Simon repeating from his list of hyperboles of antonyms for “ghastly” and assume that this kid is as bad as William Hung. He does not have the kind of stage presence American Idol folks like to drool over. He is a lanky, akward kid who sings his heart out, gets blasted and takes it with a silly grin on his face. I think he is actually starting to garner some serious sympathy voting. Until he gets voted out, Sanjaya is going to generate some serious business for Eno (ok, maybe Pepto Bismol).

man, “did ok” and “decent voice”?
He is an embarassment on that stage, more so if it supposed to be a representation of the top 12 of any place !
I mean, sweet/likeable is one thing, but he is quite hopeless.
shakester,
Thanks for your comments but did you really watch all of the performances last night? The guy who got voted off Brandon got nervous, forgot his lyrics and was not in synch with the music halfway through the song. There was another contestant Haley who also forgot her lyrics. While overall I agree with you that Sanjaya is not American Idol material, last night Brandon definitely deserved to be voted off.
Theres been some rumour news that the apparent reason why Sanjaya just won’t get voted off is due to the fact that the voting system for American Idol is in fact handled in India and theres could possibly be some tampering by the workers. OR, perhaps theres a nation wide Indian attempt to consistently keep him there - since there is high population rate in India.
Nonetheless, I feel sorry for the guy. Its obvious that everytime he makes it through, he’s quite shocked himself. As much as he wants to win as anyone else does, he’s probably quite aware that most Americans do not want him there anymore and his consistent winnings is generating a larger hate for him. The guy appears to be quite humble and does not gloat or seem arrogant at all in his nature. Feel bad for him though…if he can only sing LOUDER.
I understand what you’re trying to say but rumors are just that, rumors. In fact this rumor says William Hung is dead. Hey, its on the Internet it must be true right?
i wish sanjaya could sing louder and injects more energy on his performance. he really needs a decent performance to shut up the judges. forget the bashers, no matter how good sanjaya sing, its simply “not good enough” for them as they alrady hated him so much.
and i think AI is being very cruel to sanjaya, verytime during the result show, they LOVE to torture him. put him in the hot seat with someone else who ended going home that night. they did it 4 straight weeks, even sundance & antonella who did worse didn’t receive this kind of “treatment”.
i feel bad for the kid.
