Growing up, the biggest thing in India has always been the India Vs. Pakistan matches, India’s world cup performance and Diwali. Exactly in that order.

People immolating themselves, older fans having heart attacks and fans throwing stones and burning effigies were common news. But today someone has managed to top all of that. Mail and Guardian explains…

A 23-year-old Indian businessman on Tuesday said he would sell one of his kidneys to anyone who needed a transplant in order to afford travel to the Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean.

And he did not stop there.

“If no arrangement is made then I will jump in the river to end my life,” Sharma told Agence France-Presse by phone from his home in eastern Jamshedpur city.

Not to be insensitive, but I am putting down $5 because before the end of the World Cup, there will be some other moron who will top this craziness.
