  • He uses “arre yaar” as much as I do.

I second that, I have heard him speak hindi and yeah... not so good.
  • Santosh: Srikkanth is the perfect everyman. If ever the local Tam channels decide to get into cricket coverage, a la Set Max, I'd want Srikkanth to do what Mandira Bedi does. He'll provide the laughs and can be counted upon to provide cricketing insights as well. But god forbid, he should never be asked to go on air in the Hindi channels. He uses "arre yaar" as much as I do.
  • Karthik: This was on that Raj TV program he used to host on Sunday evenings I think, where they used to show old India games that he played in, with expert comments from him from time to time.

He was summarizing I think Bangladesh and Kenya when he said "chinna vayasula, enga patti en kitta, oppukku chappani oorukku mangakootai nu sollara madhiri,en thambiya kooda vilayada kootitu po nu solluvanga. Idhu andha madhiri dhaan irruku!" Ofcourse I am paraphrasing, but that tamil saying was definitely mentioned!

Not only that, he had a lot of things to say about Imran Khan's captaincy and Javed Miandad's "Jack in the box" antics in the episode where clips from the 1992 WC game were shown.

It was hilarious. If Miandad or Imran knew Tamil and if they met Srikkanth, I am sure he'd be lynched! :D
  • From his blog:
Perhaps, a fast bowler sending the stump on a cartwheel, or a batsman unexpectedly beaten by the looping flight of a spinner come close.

Here comes the barrage of hyperboles. Thankfully he's nowhere close to Sidhu or Shastri in that area. Good blog nonetheless.
  • He actually used that once on screen to describe the minnows participation in the 1999 World Cup!

    Really?

I am glad that he is one of the few retired players who is making good use of his english skills.
  • Yaaay! Now we can probably see comments like "oppukku chappani, oorukku maangottai" online! Cheeka definitely rocks.

He actually used that once on screen to describe the minnows participation in the 1999 World Cup!

(P.S: Non Tamils, please excuse. Any attempt at translating what I meant above will totally kill the joke!)
