Autoblog.com reports that Mahindra & Mahindra makers of the Scorpio SUV will be importing their vehicles to the USA shortly.

After choosing Atlanta’s Global Vehicles USA to be the sole distributor, they are currently adding dealers before the vehicles arrive in the Fall of 08. It looks like they already have 195 Mahindra dealers and are looking to add another 105.

Mahindra has been active in the US selling farm equipment since 1994. Mahindra recently joined with Renault to bring the Logan, a mid sized sedan to India.

Pictured above is the wagon, it looked much better than the sedan and hence the picture. Thanks Anantha

I’ve seen Mahindra tractors in the US already. The Scropio looks like the Nissan XTerra.

Karthik: Mid size sedan? The Logan? Machi, you sure you did not wanna type “MUV”? Looks like one to me!

Thanks for pointing that our Anantha. I have been a little confused and off and hence the trouble.

I put the picture of the wagon in there because it looked cooler.

Nice use of the artistic license, Madrasi.

Just as the SUV market is emarging into a crossover vehicle market, Mahindra is coming in???. I would say very very bad move unless the cost is less than say $15,000. But then they are bringing in diesel versions only, maybe there is a chance.

IP, why do you think a diesel version would fare better? Diesel is more expensive than regular gas in most states in the US.
