Narain might race in Le Mans – Race for Team India in A1 and continue testing for WilliamsF1

Narain Karthikeyan is considering racing in the 24 hours of Le Mans race and do a few A1 GP races to keep race fit.

At the launch of the FW29, Narain commented

“There is a possibility I might do the 24 hours of Le Mans. It is one of the greatest races in the world”

For all the race car noobs, The 24 hours of Le Mans is an endurance race that has many categories. The winner in each category is the one who covers the most distance in 24 hours.

Narain added

“When you start doing well in this (Le Mans) category, which has good drivers, people still see you as a potential (F1 driver) candidate,”

This does not mean that Narain is giving up his F1 dream

“In the future, I want a long career in Formula One. Just being the test driver is not the greatest thing.”

And he took a slightly different approach to his A1 commitment

“It is still up in the air, (but) it is possible. If it doesn’t clash with my Formula One commitments, I will be doing some more races. The cars are more basic, (but) it keeps your race juices flowing and keeps you sharp.”

I have to agree with this part of his comment, Narain has become a more polished, better race driver, this was very visible from his A1GP debut.

“As a driver, I’m probably more of a package now, Just not driving quickly, but also understanding how to drive quickly, how to get the best out of the car.”

You can read his comments here.

Overall Narain’s commitment towards racing is improving, he is becoming a better driver overall. Time will tell us if his multiple commitments will help or hinder his F1 career, in the short run, it will put a lot of spending money in his pocket that is guaranteed.
