This is not our uber blogger on matters of the heart, Sambol, masquerading as me. This is an actual scientific scientific that essentially says desis are more prone to heart attacks at an earlier age because of our lifestyle.
From DNAIndia.com:
NEW DELHI: South Asians have higher rates of heart attack at younger ages compared with people from other parts of the world, top cardiologists have found.
In a study published in Wednesday’s edition of Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), a team of leading cardiologists from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, WHO, Hamilton and Ontario have found that the average age for first heart attack among South Asians is 53 against 58.8 years in rest of the world.
According to a research study conducted by JAMA (The Journal of the American Medical Association) , the diet habits and sedentary lifestyle of the average desi makes us more conducive to a myocardial infraction (a.k.a heart attack) much earlier in life compared to other ethnicities.
The weakness of the desi heart is chai. I blame it all on chai.
From wikipedia.com:
Sweetener: Plain white sugar is sufficient, though unprocessed sugar, molasses, honey, and other sweeteners can be used for various flavors. A surprisingly large quantity of sugar is required to bring out the flavor of the spices; one recipe uses three tablespoons of sugar in 3.5 cups of chai.
Milk: or other such creamers. Usually, whole milk is used for its richness, but any milkfat concentration will do. Soy milk offers a good alternative for vegans or lactose-intolerant people.
