The bowl season concluded last night finally. It was an anti-climax of sort, the Florida Gators beat the heavily favored Ohio State Buckeyes 41-14.
My thoughts on last nights game and the trend in general
1. The Gators should be thanking USC for its magnificient choke job against UCLA for them to have this opportunity.
2. I knew the Gators would win after they simply drove down the field on thier first drive. Couple that with losing Ginn early in the game and it looked like OSU was jinxed.
3. All the OSU DC had to do was watch tapes from the South Carolina, Auburn and FSU games. Where was the pressure all night? Leak could’ve done a JoePa and sill completed his passes.
4. Going for 4th down from your own 30 when you’re down 10 in the second quarter. What was Sweater boy Tressel thinking?
5. The speed factor is true. OSU had a couple of speed guys. But overall it looked like they were doing their best statue impression. Big 10 (10.5, 11 whatever) football at its best.
6. The states of California, Texas and Florida have won 5 of the last 8 BCS titles, 6 if you count the phantom interference call against Miami when Ohio State won.
7. Speaking of that interference call, Ohio State had bad karma and you know what they say about karma.
8. Finally, the Heisman curse is true. Weinke, Crouch, Jason White, Bush and now Troy Smith.
9. The only bright spot this season was the Boise State-Oklahoma game with the Statue of Liberty 2 pt conversion by Boise State to win in overtime and the proposal to top them all.
Here’s hoping to a better season of college football in Fall 2007. Go Noles!
