The first one goes to India’s own S. Sreesanth. He was selected man-of-the-match for India’s win in the first test over South Africa at Johannesburg. For those who are new to Indian cricket, India had a reputation of not winning outside the sub-continent, and deservedly so. Sreesanth with 8 wickets including 5 in the first innings helped India to their first test win on South African Soil. But that is not the sole reason he earned this mention on UberDesi.

His impromptou rendition of Michael Jackson/Prabhu deva after he hit South African bowler Andre Nel out of the park was definitely a sight to behold. Indian cricketers are generally mild-mannered and never respond to sledging, generally a prerogative of the more agressive western cricket playing nations. Sreesanth’s response was classic. Hopefully this is just the beginning of the transition of India into a more agressive nation on the field.

UberDesi also salutes the bad boy of cricket, Shane Warne, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket earlier this week. Warne has 699 test wickets, 293 ODI wickets, fines, failed drug tests, sex scandals with barmaids. Truly a flawed genius.

My brother seems to think that Sachin has hit a six off of almost every first ball bowled to him around the wicket by Warne. So much for taking the most number of wickets.
